Begonia maculata, or the Polka Dot Begonia, is a charming and eye-catching species known for its distinctive foliage. The leaves of this begonia species are heart-shaped, glossy, and adorned with striking silver spots that resemble polka dots, hence its common name.
The contrast between the dark green color of the leaves and the silver spots creates a visually appealing pattern. In ample care conditions, Polka Dot Begonia produces delicate pink or white flowers that add a touch of elegance to any indoor garden, hanging basket, or living space.
LIGHT: Enjoys partial shade and a well-draining soil.
WATER: Water when the top inch of the soil is dry. By allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. Plant enjoys light misting with warm water as needed to promote humidity levels.
TOXICITY: Mildly toxic to people and pets if ingested. The leaves, stems, and sap contain oxalates, which can cause irritation and discomfort if ingested.
