12pm-2pm (Hand Lettering) // 3:00pm-5:00pm (Modern Calligraphy)
$170 $150 per person
(SAVE $20 when you register for BOTH classes)
First, join us for a fun morning of beginning lettering!
In this class, you'll learn the basics of drawing letters and putting them together. Hand lettering is all about formation of letters, and adding small illustrations to your design, not necessarily about having good hand writing! Rachel will go through some tips on letter formation and share some alphabet exemplars she has created to get you started! We'll go through some print based fonts, block lettering as well as some scripted fonts. Skills learned in this class later can be used later on a variety of surfaces, included chalkboards, cards, prints etc.

This intro to hand lettering class is a great way to ease into into learning Modern calligraphy! Spend the morning getting familar with drawing letters, then in the afternoon get your feet wet with beautiful pointed pen!
The largest differences between hand lettering and modern calligraphy are
* Hand lettering is created much more free form with markers, colored pencils or other mediums, great for chalkboards, greeting cards or other paper goods.
* Modern calligraphy is created by using a pen holder and a pointed nib, that allows ink to flow onto the paper. Great for personal notes and paper goods, but can't write on a chalkboard since paper needs to be flat.
After a break from 2pm-3pm, we'll dive into our Intro to Modern Calligraphy class.
This class is designed for anyone who wants to learn calligraphy but doesn’t know where to start! Rachel will teach you basic strokes and letter forms, as well as outline tools, tricks, and tips you’ll need for success. You’ll receive a beautiful calligraphy starter kit, complete with practice materials, pen holder and nib, so you have everything you need to get started on your calligraphy journey.
