Contender is a dependable and delicious heirloom bush bean that produces 6-inch long pods that can be eaten fresh out of the garden, canned or frozen for the winter. It is an early variety and can produce reliably in cool, short Northern seasons or the long, hot seasons of the South. Contender was released in 1949 and is still the standard for a garden green bean.
Where to plant :: Plant beans in an area with full sun and good water drainage.
